Powerline PFID125x

Powerline PFID125x is average level home gym equipment that is suitable for moderate and heavy dumbbell workouts. It is an FID bench so that it can be adjusted into decline, incline, and flat positions. This way it provides more possibilities to exercise. The backrest could be a bit wider at the top, but it is very comfortable to use. Thanks to its folding feature it can be stored easily. To sum up, it is a good buy for home strength training, but there a few problems.

  • Comfortable backrest
  • No wobbling
  • Foldable
  • Acceptable weight capacity
  • Long warranty

  • The back pad is narrow at the top

Best features of Powerline PFID125x folding bench

1. Seven levels of adjustments for versatile workouts

The back pad can be adjusted to 7 levels: flat, incline (15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 degrees) and decline (-18 degrees). This way it provides enough options for everyone. Such adjustability helps to perform more types and focused exercises.

The maximum incline level is not entirely right-angled, but personally, I prefer that 75-85 degree position because it is more comfortable for me.

Since it has leg hold down function, you may use it for decline sit-ups, but it is not very comfortable for that purpose. However, by grabbing the end of the frame, you can do other abdominal exercises such as leg raises.

2. Enough maximum capacity

The total weight capacity is 500 lbs which is not bad and enough for even moderate and heavy training. So, even if you are a little bit over 200 lbs like me, you can still lift 300 pounds safely. This way, if you have a power rack, you can use it for heavy barbell bench presses. But, for powerlifting, you will need a workout bench with higher capacity.

3. No wobbling

Thanks to the designed of the frame, the stabilizers and rubber caps this Powerline bench does not wobble. That is important not just for safety reasons but because you can focus on the exercises instead worrying about falling over. I have used several adjustable benches in my life, and it is very annoying when it does not hold its position. This collapsible workout bench does.

4. Comfortable back pad

It is hard to find a bench that comes with a truly comfortable back pad upholstery. If it is thin, it is too hard for the back, if it is too thick, it disturbs the movements. Body Solid PFID125x comes with a 2 inches thick, durable upholstery that is not hard nor too soft. Although, some users think the stitching is a bit rough.

5. Folding & Mobile

This is a compact folding weight bench, so it is a good option for those who have lack of space at home. After folding, it is just 9″H x 57″L x 16″W so that you can store under your bed. But do not forget to measure the distance between the floor and your bed.

Also, it has transport wheels, so you can easily move it where you want. This feature is particularly useful for girls since they do not have lift a 57 pounds home gym equipment.

6. Open the box and use it

Good news for non-techie people (like me) that the Body-Solid Powerline flat/incline/decline folding bench comes fully assembled. You do not need to spend your precious time with putting it together. Plus, since the assembly is made by the manufacturer, it functions as it should.

Non-adjustable seat pad

It would be better if the seat pad were adjustable at least to 2 levels. Some trainees prefer if the seat is in a bit incline position since that stops the slipping while sitting on it. When you use this bench, you will have to hold against with your legs while performing exercises in the decline position. But you can also use the leg holder if you want.

Anyway, the size of the seat is not small since it is 15″ long and 10″ wide tapering to 8.25″ wide at the end.

The end of the back pad is slightly narrow

The backrest is 32″ long and 10.25″ wide at bottom tapering to 8.25″ wide at the top. Some users think the top is narrow a bit for their head. I do know why Body-Solid does not use the same width all the way long.

– Is it stable for jumping on it?

You can, but it is for weightlifting and not for plyometric exercises. It is better if you have plyo box for that purpose.

– Does it have a bad smell?

Like any other new exercise equipment because of the used materials, it has a little smell at the beginning. But, it will go away quickly.

– How wide is the gap between the seat and back pad in flat position?

It is about 2 inches, maybe less. So, it will not disturb your training.

Verdict | Is it for you?

Powerline PFID125x is without a doubt a high-quality portable weight bench that provides good user experience and can be stored easily. It is also made in the USA by a trusted manufacturer that gives 10 years warranty. Therefore, I recommend this product to buy.
